Dublin-based digital health company HealthBeacon has announced the creation of 20 jobs, which will aim to bring the company’s headcount to 37.

The new positions will support the launch of the firm’s technology expansion – the ‘Smart Sharps System’ that helps patients adhere to their medication schedule – into North America.

The company is set to expand its existing offices in Boston and Montreal.

The roles – which will be Dublin-based – will be across the areas of IT, software development, project management and customer service

HealthBeacon was founded in 2013 with Enterprise Ireland as an early investor, and has raised more than €2m in funding to date from investors including business angels.

Company CEO Jim Joyce said the growth of HealthBeacon in Ireland "will enable our expansion into North America, creating a hub that delivers key Irish technology to the healthcare market.

"The technology is manufactured in Dublin and will soon be exported around the world."
