Exertis Supply Chain Services opens state-of-the-art GMP controlled biopharma facility in Limerick

In the past year, ESCS has developed the largest GMP controlled biopharmaceutical warehousing facilities in Ireland. ESCS is now working with a new US biopharmaceutical FDI providing warehousing and transport services for its purpose built factory in the mid-west of Ireland.

Exertis Supply Chain Services (ESCS), a Dublin-based subsidiary of DCC plc, has announced the official opening of its new 100,000 square foot GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) controlled logistics facility in Raheen, Limerick. The announcement was made during the Trade Mission in Ireland organised by Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland and led by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Mitchell O’Connor TD.

In the past year, ESCS has transformed this under-utilised site into one of the largest GMP controlled biopharmaceutical warehousing facilities in Ireland.

ESCS is now working with a large new US biopharmaceutical FDI, providing warehousing and transport services for its purpose built factory in the mid-west of Ireland, which will be the largest capacity biopharmaceutical production facility in Ireland.

The GMP warehouse will provide ESCS with the capacity to assist domestic as well as international biopharmaceutical companies in need of supply chain support. With the project generating twelve direct and eight indirect new jobs thus far, it is expected that the new facility will continue to yield wider societal and economic benefits, as new employment opportunities arise and local businesses capture value from the activities of foreign direct investment in the region.

Opening the new facility, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Mitchell O’Connor said: “I am delighted to open this new state-of-the-art logistics facility in Raheen, Limerick. The operations of Exertis Supply Chain Services will add significant knock on benefits to the region. This is great news for Limerick and the mid-west region, and is also a great example of the strong links that exist between indigenous Irish companies and global multinational companies based here. From a state support perspective it demonstrates the effectiveness of IDA and Enterprise Ireland collaboration and cooperation through the Global Sourcing initiative. I warmly congratulate Exertis Supply Chain Services and wish them continued success for the future”.

Neal Johnston, Managing Director, Exertis Supply Chain Services said: “Exertis, as a leading indigenous supply chain partner, enables foreign direct investment, by providing swift and effective support for their start-up operations, both in Ireland and overseas.”

As Iran emerges into the post-sanctions era heralded by an agreement on its nuclear programme, much of Tehran is focused on loosening the country’s ties to the dogmas of revolution, and ending the cultural and economic isolation of the last 35 years.
