Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway Network reached the milestone of 1,000 innovation projects, benefitting over 450 companies. This was announced at the annual conference of the Enterprise Ireland funded Technology Gateway Network back in September.

Damien English T.D. Minister for Skills, Research and Innovation congratulated the 12 Technology Gateway programme managers and the Institutes of Technology which host them on their success in delivering R&D support to local companies, saying “access for companies, especially start-ups and SMEs, to this specialised R&D support is critical to help them improve their competitiveness and develop new product ranges. The Government has committed €23M in funding up until the end of 2017 to the Technology Gateway network which is managed by Enterprise Ireland, with the ultimate goal of increasing the innovative capabilities and growth of companies in towns and cities around Ireland”.

There are 12 Technology Gateways located in 8 Institutes of Technology:
Athlone IT
Cork Institute of Technology
Dublin Institute of Technology
IT Tallaght
IT Tralee
Letterkenny Institute of Technology
Limerick Institute of Technology
Waterford Institute of Technology.

To date, more than 450 companies have used the services of the Technology Gateways to source technology solutions for their near-to-market R&D needs in a wide range of areas including wireless solutions, biotechnology, engineering, pharmaceuticals and healthcare.
