Limerick medtech company signs €1.1m deal to supply devices in Oman

Fleming Medical part of 20-strong Irish delegation at Arab Health exhibition in Dubai

Limerick medtech company Fleming Medical has signed a €1.1 million deal to supply medical devices in Oman for the next three years.

The deal was secured at the Arab Health exhibition, which is the largest healthcare exhibition in the Middle East.

The company signed a three-year distribution agreement with Muscat Pharmacy to distribute its products in Oman.

A delegation of 20 Irish companies, led by Enterprise Ireland and Minister for Employment Pat Breen, were at the event in Dubai which ended on Thursday.

The Enterprise Ireland section featured drug delivery systems, medical devices, digital health technologies and pharmaceutical products.

Other Irish companies to attend included Aerogen, AmRay Medical, CF Pharma Ireland, Crospon, Fleming Medical, IPC Polymers, Kastus Technology, Locatible, Miravex, Novaerus, Sedana Medical, Synchrophi Systems and 3D4 Medical.

Awards

Aerogen, the manufacturer and distributor of aerosol drug delivery systems, received awards at the event for its patented vibrating mesh technology.

Kastus Technology showcased its anti-microbial products for indoor environments in healthcare facilities and 3D4 Medical demonstrated how its medical learning applications can be easily utilised by patients, students and medical professionals.

Mr Breen said the continued expansion of the healthcare sector in the Middle East “offers a number of exciting opportunities” for Irish companies.

Tom Kelly, of Enterprise Ireland, said the trade visit was one of 40 international events to help Irish companies identify new markets for their products and services.

He pointed out that there was already a high volume of trade between Ireland and the UAE with exports from Irish companies exceeding €124 million in 2015.

“Ireland has a well-developed life sciences sector for which we see growth opportunities in the Gulf region,” Mr Kelly said. “We are keen to use Arab Health as an opportunity to promote Ireland to potential healthcare buyers and invite them to attend MedinIreland – Ireland’s largest medtech event – in October 2017.”
