Microfinance Ireland

Microfinance Ireland (MFI), a not-for-profit lender, provides loans of up to €25,000 to businesses who:

  • employ 10 people or less; and
  • who are not able to access credit from traditional sources like banks.

The Minister for Business and Employment, Ged Nash TD, recently announced a range of changes to the rules governing Microfinance Ireland to allow more entrepreneurs and micro-enterprises avail of its loans. Read more.

   
       
       
   

Business Data in Focus

Manufacturing investment reaches new high of €4.6bn in 2014

The investment in 2014 represents an increase of almost 50% on 2013 and is double the investment in manufacturing in 2011. The main contributors to growth in investment were the computer, electronic and optical products and the chemical and pharmaceuticals sectors.

Almost €445m was invested in food and beverage sectors.
