Syndicate announces €2m fund for start-ups in the West

A new investment fund of €2m has been announced for start-ups in the West.

The West by North West Syndicate is collaboration between a dozen so-called angel investors.

It is an initiative of HBAN, a joint venture of InterTradeIreland and Enterprise Ireland, formed to promote angel investment on the island of Ireland.

It is hoped that the number of investors involved in the scheme will double this year.

John Mullen, chair of the West by North West Syndicate said: “WxNW is a harbour for angel investors either located around the western seaboard, or with an interest in or connection to the area.

"The area has shown promising growth in recent years, particularly in areas such as med-tech. We want to capitalise on this growth and the energy it breeds to give more start-ups across multiple sectors the opportunity to grow."
