Representatives from several Irish-based companies will travel to Washington next week to participate in the SelectUSA Investment Summit.

The US Embassy has announced that senior representatives from companies such as FEXCO, Kingspan and DPS Engineering will attend the event, which begins on Monday.

US-based Enterprise Ireland officials will also be at the event, which is the most high profile initiative in the country to connect global companies and facilitate business investment.

More than 2,600 individuals from 70 markets attended the event last year and new investment developed after the last three summits is valued at $20.6 billion (€18.38bn).

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross said: "We are entering a new period of economic revival in the United States.

"This is an exciting time for global companies to explore the U.S. market and find partners that can help them create a footprint, expand operations, and achieve growth.

"There is no better place to make those connections than this Summit."

FEXCO Group Executive Joe Redmond said his company is excited about the potential opportunities that the summit could bring.

Mr Redmond said: "FEXCO is a highly successful and broadly diversified financial services company with long standing operations and business relationships in the USA.

"Expanding the Group's corporate presence and product portfolio in the USA are key strategic and business objectives for FEXCO. Participation at the SelectUSA Summit presents very good opportunities for the company to further these objectives."
