By @SimonCocking. Quick check in with  Niamh Collins, Chief Operations Officer, DCU Ryan Academy, about their latest exciting event.

When is it on?

Tuesday 4th July 2017

How many years has it been going?

The first programme started in 2014, this is cycle 5. 4 years and growing.

What was the inspiration to start it?

DCU Ryan Academy recognised the opportunity – with the support of Enterprise Ireland – to develope a programme, which is now called Female High Fliers Programme – specifically aimed at helping female founders accelerate their business and address the challenges facing female entrepreneurs. Over a 13 week period we bring the founders on a journey of discovery – giving them the knowledge, skills and understanding to commercialise sustainable and profitable products and services, that customers need and want.  In addition, the RA provides mentoring throughout the programme.  Since 2014 we have worked with 53 Female-led businesses.

What exciting things can people look forward to for the 2017 version?

The opportunity is to meet the participating Founders, wth a view to hopefully securing support or mentoring, their journey is still ongoing, help and advice with their business is still very much needed. Attendee on July 4th will also have an opportunity to hear Mary O’Brien, Co-Founder of Video Doc talk about her journey of securing funding and the new challenges that brings with it.

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

Come with an open mind and if you can reach out and help the companies in any form; be it advice or an introduction or whatever it might be. All help is appreciated.

How can people book tickets?

Registration is via Eventbrite: http://bit.ly/2rT1san
