Tapastreet, an Enterprise Ireland High Potential Start-Up client, recently announced an agreement with the Met Office, the UK’s national weather service, to collaborate on an innovative project to include social media signals with automated weather monitoring.
Since 2012, Tapastreet has been working on harnessing the power of social media to provide real-time information about locations and events. Every day over 15 million geotagged photos are uploaded from smartphones to Twitter and Instagram alone. Tapastreet’s platform tracks these and many more from a wide range of other social networks, providing a comprehensive overview of what is happening anywhere in the world, as it happens.
This collaboration will build upon Tapastreet’s industry-leading trajectory mining and image synthesis technology and the Met Office’s global and local weather forecasting and observation systems, recognised as one of the most accurate in the world.
Tapastreet is taking part in the Enterprise Ireland “Ones To Watch” showcase event at the Embassy of Ireland in London, aimed at supporting Irish companies to accelerate their sales growth in the UK. The event coincides with President Higgins’ historic visit to the United Kingdom.
