Two Irish projects featured in the Top 5 attended pitches at Cartoon Forum in Toulouse.
Jam Media’s ‘Snoozeville‘ came in 3rd of the best attended pitches, followed closely by Giant Animation’s ‘Creepers‘.
80 projects were pitched this year at Cartoon Forum, including 8 Irish Projects.
Kavaleer’s ‘Alva & The Trolls‘, Igloo Films‘ ‘Peek Zoo‘ and Keg Kartoonz ‘Zombabies’ were among the the Top 20 attended pitches.
For the first time, a country was chosen to be highlighted at Cartoon Forum. Ireland, very active and very creative in animation, was offered its candidature to be the first country.
Ireland has enjoyed enormous success over the past 15 years at Cartoon Forum with successful Irish IP such as Nelly & Nora (Geronimo Productions), Puffin Rock (Cartoon Saloon), Little Roy ( Jam Media) and Kiva Can Do (Kavaleer Productions) being introduced at the pitching sessions of the Forum.
Irish animation appeared as a constant thread throughout Cartoon Forum: presentations of Irish studios during Croissant Shows, Irish Farewell Dinner & Party which takes place this evening.
Irish Ambassador to France, Geraldine Byrne Nason, introduced the ‘Spotlight on Ireland’ to the 950 broadcasters, investors and potential partners at the opening Croissant Show on Wednesday. Ambassador Nason Byrne noted that the Irish Animators are some of the ‘leading Irish Storytellers’ whose storytelling is ‘rooted in Irish tradition but they are animating their magical tales through cutting edge technology, I encourage you to enjoy their stories’.
Paul Young, of Cartoon Saloon, and John Rice, CEO of Jam Media, invited delegates to the Irish Party with the help of the Irish band Rackhouse Pilfer.
