THE Rose of Tralee Festival this year will see the addition of a new one day women’s business conference that will celebrate and recognise the achievements of modern women in the business sector.

The ‘Bloom For Ireland’ conference, which is being organised by Enterprise Ireland, will take place at the Brandon Conference Centre, Tralee on August 17.

The conference, which will be opened by both the Minister for Justice, Frances Fitzgerald TD and the Minister for the Diaspora Jimmy Deenihan TD, will see talks given by the current Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh, and 2005 winner Dr. Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin.

Dr. Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin, Doctor of Mathematics, will share her worklife experience and talk about the need to encourage more women into the STEM subjects such as science, technology, engineering and maths.

Senior female figures from the Public Sector, the multi-national sector, the media industry and the indigenous business sectors will also be sharing their insights and provide valuable learning on such themes as leadership with authenicity, achieving business scale and how diversity drives innovation.

“The Rose of Tralee International Festival connects the global Irish community and in doing so, since 1959, it celebrates intelligent and accomplished Irish women at home and abroad. Delegates, both male and female, from across the globe are invited to join the conference which will showcase and celebrate inspirational Irish women and men as they share their global leadership journeys,” said Minister Jimmy Deenihan.

“It is important that we harness the power of all our resources, both male and female, at home and abroad, into a cohesive effort, to drive export growth of Irish companies and to deliver job creation in Ireland. Our ambition with this conference is to inspire and encourage ambitious businesswomen to participate fully, to reach their full potential and in so doing, maximize their contribution to economic prosperity in Ireland,” said Julie Sinnamon, CEO of Enterprise Ireland when speaking at the launch.
