Sigmar Recruitment to take on 150 new employees

Sigmar, one of the country’s largest recruitment firms, is to more than double its own workforce with the creation of 150 new jobs by the end of 2018. The company said the roles, which will be in sales, digital marketing and recruitment, will be for both experienced professionals and graduates.

Irish SMEs ranked best in the EU for innovation

Irish Times: Ireland has topped the rankings for innovation among small and medium sized businesses, according to a new European Commission scoreboard.


Irish SMEs were ranked the best in the EU for innovation because of their strong record of in-house innovation, the fast growth of jobs in the Irish innovation sector and the high growth in knowledge intensive industries. 

Gearoid Mooney, Director of Research & Innovation at Enterprise Ireland said:

 “We welcome the 2016 EU Innovation Scoreboard results that sees Ireland move up 2 places to Number 6 and sees us top the group of Strong Innovative Countries. We look forward to moving up at least one more place in the coming years and joining the group of Innovation Leader countries. Implementing Innovation 2020 will help address the challenges that underpin that performance. It is particularly pleasing for Enterprise Ireland to see that Ireland leads in the Innovation and Economic Effects categories and that our performance has strengthened from 2015 and that we are the top country for successful applications by SMEs under the programme.”

Irish startup Beats Medical has made it to the finals of a US-based healthcare innovation competition. “We’re delighted to be selected as a finalist in Florida Innovation X, this will allow us to share our work with health professionals from around the US allowing us to impact more people with Parkinson’s,” said founder Ciara Clancy.
